Air Transport of Greece (Α.Μ.Ε.)(Aero Metafora Ellados)

In 1947 A.M.E. was founded with 6 Breguet-Nord Br.810 Bretagne and the hope of conquest the local flights and even venturate to short range flights to others countries. The locals flights included travels to Athens, Salonika, Crete and Nicosia. Flights to Yougoslavia, Bulgaria, Italy and France were efectued during 1947.

However short after the foundation of the company two new companies appeared. Daedalus Airlines and Greek Air Transport (G.A.T.). The competence between G.A.T. and the much older T.A.E. presure A.M.E. out of France and Italy. Meanwhile Daedalus Airlines was a cheaper option to fly to Crete and Nicosia with the same quality and comfort. This let the company operating in the north of Greece as well to Bulgaria and Yugoslavia to the end of 1947.

Anyway A.M.E. has not surrender. It is still competing to overcome Daedalus as well as it have started flights to Romania to the middle of 1948.

Daedalus Airline:

In 1947 a small group of the greek elite living in Crete founded an airline with the objective of connect Crete and Nicosia to the main land Greece. The project was more center on offer the best prices from the beginning so it gain popularity faster than their competitor, A.M.E., in the greek islands. Also it didn't pretend to made flights out of the country so was more or less protected by the competence between T.A.E. and G.A.T. that was a terrible hit to A.M.E.

Greek Air Transport (G.A.T.)

G.A.T started in 1947 as a joint-operation with Scottish Aviation which owned the 40% of the company while the greek government owned the 60%. From their bases in Scotland, Scottish Airlines trained the greeks crew and the maintenance crew.

With only 2 Avro York and 6 BCAC VC.1 Viking, G.A.T. knew from the beginning that their competence outnumber them. To counter this G.A.T. relayed in their range to publisite himself
aking more travels than T.A.E. in the same amount of time taking advantage of the Avro York. Now the two airlines are competing in the Europe, having both air travels to the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Iberia, Egypt, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, Turkey, Romania and Atlantis. This great amount of destinies in comparison with their relative lack of planes force the company to utilize more crew to allow the planes to fly all the day as well to make rotatory turns to mechanic revisions.

Now the two companies are aiming to get green light to expand to the Russian market.

Technical and Aeronautical Exploitations (T.A.E.)

T.A.E. was formed in 1935 by Stephanos Zotos. It was dedicated to domestic routes but around 1941 the hangars of the company suffer an accident in which it's previous planes were lost in the fire. To replace them T.A.E. acquired 11 DC-3 Dakota and start to dedicate to more travels to the exterior without letting behind the local flights. To 1945 I travels to Italy, France and the United Kingdom and had no plans of make flights to any other country. But to the end of 1947 it changes. A new competitor appeared, G.A.T.. This new company flew to the same places plus Germany. And so T.A.E. left behind the local market to dedicate to beat the competition. The situation rapidly escalated to a race of which company had the best prices and more destinies.

Now this race is exhausting the company that have to make travels even to Atlantis, fly that take them far more time that to their competitor . At the same time have to pressure and use more planes to ensure shorter times in intermediary destinies as Algeria in the case of Atlantis or France in the case of the United Kingdom. Now Moscow seems to be what will turn the balance.
