And a transom stern

I'd forgotten that was there. She was originally a carrier conversion of a heavy cruiser, she merged into something else but I must have forgotten to take that off. A quick re-design is needed I think.

Not to mention that there is a mention of a non-zero recoil effect....

Its for when she comes alongside and the sailors hurl pizzas at you. How many of the illustrations have weapons fitted? None, because it would be fairly easy to spot if they were present.

Given what limited info I have on deck edge elevators, in this period of time they would have to be completely hung off the side as any cut into the hull severely weakens it.

Depends on which is the strength deck. If its the hangar deck, which it is for this small carrier, it really doesn't matter so much. If the flight deck is the strength deck then it matters more when you start cutting holes in it. Careful reinforcement should alleviate the problem.

The Armada de Filipinas officers assigned to "treaty policing and protesting" have thoroughly examined the design, determining that it complies in all respects with Part III, Chapter H, Article IV(2) of the Cleito Naval Arms Limitation Treaty and sending Supermarina an invoice for four crates of vino.

Cat gut and pelts

By mid-to-late WW2 deck catapults (mechanical IIRC, were any of them hydraulic?) were used on everything up to and including Essex class carriers - air groups had gotten too large to spot and fly off, there wasn't enough free room left...And on the escort carriers, there wasn't enough room to start with (especially for the Avengers).

Now the steam catapult didn't come about until the 1950s, the older cats didn't have the oompf for the jets.

With smaller-decked carriers in service (Urumi, Sulu...) it's possible the catapult could become more vital sooner, as they'll need one if they're to carry torpedo-bomers. And on a training carrier restricted to 20 knots...it's virtually a necessity, especially for training in the larger aircraft.
