The Aichi Type-11 area defense fighter (J3A1) if I remember correctly tried to use the Ho-13 in line engine. iI don't remember if the Aichi engineers tried Heinkel's disastrous evaporative cooling system?

With the engine, it says "Aichi 'Atsuta' type 21, 1,200 hp". The Ho-13 is mentioned in the text (and if I understand it correctly, the name for the Ho-13 engine is... 'Atsuta'), but no mention is made of an evaporative cooling system in the text...

Well Heinkel tried to cooperate with Aichi to design this fighter and tried to bring their He-100 experience to it. I just wondered if the Heinkel gang tried evaporative cooling.

The Atsuta was some kind of licensed designed Mitsubishi made inline aero-engine. I don't really know that much about it.

Well that answers the question about evaporative cooling. The DB6xxS used pressurized water-jacket cooling. One shot into the waterjacket and 2 minutes later you have a paperweight.

With this one, I think a shot into the waterjacket is not the biggest problem...

Actually, the base aircraft is the fairly common (in WW) Heinkel He-112, NOT the He-100 (which is being worked on by Heinkel, but is not ready for production at this time). Like the Iberian, Philipino, and Turkish aircraft, it's powered by a Jumo-211 rather than the historical Jumo-210. So no evaporative cooling (if you check last years German news, you'll find General Udet mentioning flying an He-113 with that system and commenting that it would need to be changed), just a normal liquid cooled inverted V-12.

The text mentions the He-100, not the He-112 (marked on the picture, I think this bit says "He-100 no Nippon" which refers to the three D-0s that were sold to the IJN in OTL).

Looking at pictures of both the He-100 and the He-112, to me it more closely resembles the He-100 than the He-112.
