Copenhagen Makes Harbour!!!!!

Despite slipping her tow twice, the K.D.M. Copenhagen has limped into Toulon harbour. She arrived at 6.39am local time, accompanied by the cruiser Falster, and by two French tugs that set sail to render assistance as soon as the word of the disaster had reached the port.

The damage to the vessel is considerable. She sits in the water beside the peir with a 15 degree list to Port and down by the stern by about 6 degrees. The hole in the ship's side is approximately 50 feet long by 10 feet high. The initial damage while caused by the mine (now confirmed), was exacerbated by a secondry explosion, the source of which still has to be determined. Several compartments can be seen as compromised, but the internal bulkheads seem to have held, accounting for the ships almost miraculous survival.

A team of engineers from the Danish Naval Engineering School and an investigation team from The Advocate General's Office are due to arrive with the Royal Family, to conduct a full inspection and compile a report on the incident. The local Police have cordoned off the peir to prevent a crowd from forming, and to help preserve the scene for the investigators. The Copenhagen's Marine detachment are remaining on board to maintain the ships security.
