Infinite Refit Works [Nordmark Edition]

It didn't occur to me until unfortunately late in the process of planning this refit to wonder how much more life the now 17 year old 25 class has in them, given the fragility of destroyer construction.

I find myself forced to shrug and assume that the hulls will be good for more than the march of progress will allow them, if I don't want to waste all the effort I've already put towards doing up art of the new version.

(no, it's not done yet, not right away, sorry.)

Anyway. The refit replaces the armament with new equipment and adds sonar and radar capability... My back-of-the-envelope numbers make me think that the depth charge allowance is enough for about sixteen, which'll need replacing after just one engagement but is better than nothing. Cost would be 377 tons and a hair under three months in drydock.

Hmm. Didn't realize that - I thought the Nordish were one of those powers that had stuck with the 21" torpedo rather than trying to clone Japanese Long Lances. :rolleyes:

Hey, at least my 24" torps aren't supposed to be LL clones. I just wanted more boom than a 21" one. That ridiculous range on a LL is a waste in most cases.

I don't know what RAM intended when he introduced them in 1927, but I the Dutch 24" are modeled on the German 60cm. More range and boom, but far short of a Long Lance.
