The idea of an infantry support vehicle light enough to perform in the Philippines was considered important enough that this vehicle entered service in 1937. The current 75mm gun was considered too heavy for the hull and instead of increasing the weight and size of the vehicle a decision was made to use the already proven Japanese Type 85 low velocity gun.

Constructed only in small numbers and declared redundant in December 1941 and reduced to scrap

Small tankette designed in Skoda-Davao to replace the old Whippet tanks in inventory plus making possible to add a MG/Mortar company to support the Brigade. Slightly protected, the reasoning was that a vehicle too heavy would have limited mobility in the region; also that the light weight make the vehicle easy to be transported by ship was considered a plus.
