Thanks to Brock for the Sub Sim.

Bharati and Persian sharing of technology was the result of this class of coastal submarine. The confined waterspaces of the Persian Gulf made almost mandatory to remain submerged due to the closeness of land in all directions. The hull is more streamlined with no deck gun being carried. However, the 750hp electric motors failed to produce the expected speeds underwater of over 10knts. A 650hp Diesel is used for surface propulsion and to charge the batteries. An Indian copy of Ninjatousaya System utilized in the Indian U-31 Class was fitted. This will help again in having the submarines remain underwater and undetected. 3x610mm torpedo tubes are fitted, two forward and one stern with 6 torpedoes carried. A copy of Indian sonar set is carried forwards to help with ranging and early warning. Overall the Class was considered an underachiever, failing to reach the expected design performance.

Design decisions:
- Overhanging stern with mine-launching chutes and doors (a la Norwegian minelayer Tryggvason).
- Modest armoured belt to resist light weapons at intermediate ranges and deck armour to resist aerial strafing.
- Space for 250 mines (1 ton each) plus 50 tons growth weight
- Very good range even at flank speed permits these ships to double as cruising school ships (if extra crew quarters added)
