Novosti News Service – Belgrade, Wednesday, 1 October 1941

Debate opened before Parliament today on the naval construction programme proposed by the Government for the year 1942. Citing the continued threat posed by the naval power of hostile neighbors Prime Minister Karasec requested funds for the construction of two large destroyer-type vessels, four sloops for the purpose of commerce protection and a seaplane tender to provide support for the existing naval defence forces. The Leader of the Opposition commended the Government for its willingness to support the national defence, but indicated that there would be considerable discussion in committee on the details of the Government’s proposals. Nevertheless, considering the Government majority in Parliament approval of the plan in general outline is assured.

I really ought to see if Claveworks would draw the LeO, considering how many countries have bought it so far.

The Association of Aircraft Manufacturers’ demonstration tour arrived here today on the final leg of its overseas sales tour. Novosti News Service – Zagreb, Thursday, 6 November 1941

It was announced today that the Government has awarded preliminary survey contracts for the proposed Autostrady A5 linking the city with Belgrade. While it is the intention to utilise as much of the existing road network as possible via upgrading, it will take many years to construct the new road to autostrady standards. Work on the road itself is expected to start in the spring, and is expected to spur employment throughout the region.

Oh good, you remembered my Syria stop; I'd forgotten.

Novosti News Service – Belgrade, Thursday, 18 December 1941

Parliament approved the naval estimates as presented by the Government, and the forthcoming year will see two large destroyer leaders and four sloops, among other vessels, added to the Navy. Members of the Opposition had urged construction of additional submarines to counter the threat posed by nearby foreign navies but the Government majority held firm against such jingoistic clamour.
