Austral Motores

Austral Motores
Austral Motores is the aero-engine division of Austral Obras Mecánica, the Santiago-based subsidiary of Roth-Packard. Austral Motores license-builds Roth-Packard aircraft engines for Chilean use, manufacturing a number of parts locally in Chile. As of 1945, Austral has built three types of aircraft engines:
- Austral Palomo: seven-cylinder single-row radial, 11.2L (685 in³) displacement, 300hp average (not in regular production as of 1941)
- Austral Streiff: forteen-cylinder two-row radial, 30L (1840 in³) displacement, 900-1,200hp average
- Austral Incitatus: eighteen-cylinder two-row radial, 45.5L (2775 in³) displacement, 1,800-2,400 hp average

Displacement: 11.2L (685 in³)
Introduced: 1938
Used: Fanaero HF
Notes: A version of the Palomo, modified as a two-row forteen-cylinder radial of 22.4L (with ~600hp), was suggested under the designation "Rocinante". No engines of the Rocinante type have been built to date.
