The Riohacha class torpedo boats are ex-American early four stacker destroyers purchased in 1920. Buenaventura was taken out of service in 1936 to free up her name for a new CLAA being built. She was then striken in 1941 and scrapped along with her sister ships. Scrapping completed in 1942
