Cost calculations:

Light displacement 1930 tons, less one half miscellaneous weight (500 tons) = 1430 tons cost to construct

- LSTs are built to special rules because of them being a mix of a freighter and a warship
- The miscellaneous weight of LST is halved into deductible and non-deductible (50/50)
- The deductible weight is taken of the ships light displacement and so building time and building costs
- Otherwise all normal building rules apply
- For scrapping LST only the reduced weight is used for calculation.
- Any landing craft carried aboard the LST shall be purchased separately under light craft rules

Nicely done, though it seems to be a lot of weight for radar - those weights might be more appropriate for a destroyer or light cruiser, methinks. Otherwise very good.

Quite possibly the weight reserved for electronics is overstated - it is something I can examine between now and the formal laying down of the vessels. An alternative could be to install sonar as well.

I'd see a good new sonar as a valuable addition, yes.

Minecraft Typ 1943 - Rev B

Both Brock and Hood had commented that the weights I originally allocated for radars were high, and that sonar might be a worthwhile inclusion. Upon reflection, I agree, and have modified the proposed design.

Hmm. Looks like a nice little design.

Sunday, January 8th 2012, 10:52pm

I think it will fill a niche role. It's not as capable as a full fledged fleet tender, but then, the demands of a flotilla of S-boats or R-boats are less.
