To have an overseas gunboat wouldn't one need someplace overseas to put it?

That is a reasonable presumption. ;)

Now unless I am going blind, I don't think Germany has any overseas possessions that I can see. So perhaps I am missing something but one wonders where Germany plans on stationing an overseas vessel if Germany has no overseas possessions?

We plan for all eventualities. This is one option under consideration by the KM staff. Whether the Reichstag approves it in the budget will be a question for the future.

Not a bad looking design, though the Typ 1943 has a far different armament layout. May I ask where you found the drawing?

Sure you can ask .... but if you will get an answer is another thing :D :D :D

I hope your german is good enough to read it ;)

Jawohl mein Herr. :]

And when it fails there is always Babelfish and Google translate. Thanks for the link; it appears very interesting.

indeed an interesting drawing, i cannot find it in z-vor! either, looks like a strange cross between a Kanonenboot 1938 and Hela but with bigger guns, not so sure about the torpedo tubes though.

Why not? This is an export design. There are navies in the world where such luxuries are allowed - hence the etcetera.

Thank you! I modified the position of the foremast and the superstructure, and found slightly smaller gun turrets (the original ones looked more like 15cm guns rather than 12.8cm). I chose to ditch the torpedo tubes - I could see no way that they would train out.

Sure :D but your design is from 1943 ... so two years in the future of the sino-fiilipino war. Do you really think the war will still be there ????
