Lysandros Class

Lysandros Class Battleship

B-6 Lysandros Laid Down 01/Jan/36 Entered Service 23-Dec-40
B-7 Perikles Laid Down 01/Jan/36 Entered Service 16-Dec-40
Built to replace the Kypris class battlecruisers, the Lysandros and Perikles are fitted with a new 16" gun utilising a twin turret design developed for upgunning the Megas Alexandros. The twin turret is fitted in A position where the TDS has the least depth while the triple turrets enjoy a higher deck position. The ships have a good turn of speed to counter Italy's new battleships and so they can operate with the Greeces enlarged carrier scouting forces.

The secondary battery is a new type of 6" between deck mount. The fully powered high angle mounts are a development of the 6" twin powered mounts introduced in 1927 on the Athina class Escort Cruisers.
