Shore Batteries

The Irish Naval Service and the Irish Army are jointly charged with preparing and manning shore batteries, although this is a low priority for both branches, and there is insufficient funding at present for the establishment of newer shore batteries. However, the Irish Naval Service has several guns removed from secondhand naval vessels, some of which may be useful for shore batteries.

- Nine 130mm guns from the Danish Ask-class sloops (some of the guns from Ask have damage and are unuable at present, but could be placed back into service).
- Twelve British-built 102mm (4") guns removed from the S-class destroyers (Contae-class escort destroyers).
- Nine twin 57mm AA guns from the Danish Ask-class sloops (some of the guns from Ask have damage and are unusable at present, but could be placed back into service). Two were modified for land-based service at Cobh, while the others are in storage.
