North American BT-9, a two-seat basic trainer developed from the NA-16, has fixed undercarriage and 600hp Wright R-975 Whirlwind engine and enclosed cockpits. Dimensions 42/ 29.6/ 11.9/ 253.7 sq ft; 600hp Wright R-975 Whirlwind; max speed 195mph; cruising speed 150mph; service ceiling 21,000ft; range 700 miles.

117 BT-9B with improvements
67 BT-9C with improvements and armed like BT-9A

Variants and production figures: 300 BT-13, 400 BT-13A with different Wasp version.
