Well, yes. But I am not shure abour the construction, looks maybe a bit fragile at the muffle and could break under stress.

Why would he not be? While it's decades later, the US Green Berets carry a shovel that they are taught to use as a weapon, rather effectively as well. It even has a serrated edge to increase the likelihood of you decapitating someone with it.
