Proposal - 36M Field Car

In lieu of a specialized military field car, which would be expensive to develop and procure, I propose that the Royal Hungarian Army might have adopted a variant of the commecial Fiat 508C light car fitted with military coachwork. The chassis was readily available in the OTL, and I presume that the type was developed by the Italian auto industry in WW.

Specification

Fiat 118A 4-cylinder 1944cc side-valve liquid cooled petrol engine rated at 45 bhp at 3,600 rpm driving rear wheels via 4-speed gearbox and worm-drive rear axle with locking differentials. Hydraulic brakes. Rigid axles with semi-elliptic leaf springs. Typre 5.50-15. Wheelbase 2300mm. Overall dimensions 3695 x 1580 x 1870 mm. Weight 1,500 kg, gross weight 1,900 kg.

Raba 38M Botond Light Truck

This vehicle was an indigenous Hungarian design adopted by the OTL Hungarian forces in 1938 as a troop carrier and gun tractor. In WW, it has been purchased by the Royal Yugoslav Army for the latter role.

Specification

MVG 4-cylinder 3770cc petrol engine rated at 70 bhp driving the rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox and worm drive rear axle with self-locking differentials. Hydraulic brakes. Leaf spring suspension at front, independent with coil springs and balancing beams at rear. Tyres 8.25-20. Wheelbase 3030mm (BC 1120mm). Overall dimensions 5750 x 2200 x 2550mm. Weight 4,100 kg.
