Notes: The Modelo-1941 has been developed by FAMAE and Terrestre with foreign assistance from FAR as well as Germany and Nordmark, but will be manufactured locally in Chile. The 415 horsepower Terrestre T8B engine is idealized for "hot and high" operations (for example in the Atacama, the Altiplano, and the Andes) through the addition of a turbocharger which maintains performance at high altitude. FAMAE and Terrestre intend to develop the vehicle further to serve as the base for a tank destroyer (cazacarros), assault gun (cañón de asalto), antiaircraft tank (antiaéreos tanque), and an armoured engineering/recovery vehicle. Once it has reached production, it will replace the all tanks in Chilean service, including the AT36/57 currently in use.

An interesting design choice, and appears well suited to Chilean conditions - not too heavy, not too large, reasonable protection and reasonable firepower. I presume the engine is gasoline-powered rather than diesel powered?

Thanks. I agree it's pretty much ideal for the moment, considering I don't have to worry about any of the wacky supertanks elsewhere in the world.

At the moment, yes; it's gasoline powered. I considered using diesel but went back and forth on that. A later sub-model might perhaps switch to a diesel engine, but I think it will be gasoline to start with.

Two variants of this tank will be emerging in 1942.
