I'll be leaving for a month long study abroad program on the 18th. Internet will be very limited so anything important e-mail me.

I'll be aboard the following ship:

So time for the US to turn Mexico into the 51st state? :D

Where will the ship be heading?

Nahh, they don't have Wal Mart... yet. :D

Just around the Caribbean, starting from Nassau. The Bermuda Triangle should be fun. Bought a decent camera so hoping to get a bunch of nice ship pictures.

dont forget, the camera might come in useful for other things aside from ships :D Have fun!!!
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Wal Mart?!? That means turning Mexico into a colony, not a state! :D

Take lotsa pictures!! I know I will be taking a lot this year. :)

Enjoy the trip... hope nothing weird will happen in the Triangle.

Yes, Mexico cannot become a state until the McDonald's are introduced.

I make no comment either way, but there are three stores of Wal-Mart de Mexico in the Distrito Federal alone, and, but last report more than 200 McDonalds stores across the country.

At least according to Nationmaster

Actually Coca Cola is Mexico's weakness, number one in coke consumption!

See you all in a month's time.

On a similar note (and with the wish not to start a new thread), access between now and next Saturday will be limited, because of finals, and from that Saturday to May 13th, almost non-existant (And all ye in the Northeast will be invaded, esp. if you live in New Jersey or Maine).

The State Office of Homeland Security has been alerted and the border guards doubled at all toll booths.

(What, you don't know our motto here in New Jersey? ---- "Welcome to New Jersey, Pay your toll and get out of here!")

:D

I'll be out as well for the next while. Out in the US for two weeks; New York and then a worryingly tornadoey Alabama.

Lessons learned:

- Black flies absolutely suck
- Canoeing into a 30 MPH headwind will probably result in you going backwards even if you're giving 110%, and means that you'll go about a mile every 2 hours or so.
- Canoeing into a 25 MPH crosswind will probably result in your boat flipping unless you have a really good sternsman, and will result in you taking water over the gunnels.
- I really can't understand the New Jersay/New York accent...

Good time = check

I cannot agree with you more here; of course, you probably haven't met the New Jersey state bird - the Mosquito. :)

Please do not confuse New Jersey accents with those prevailing across the Hudson river. Depending upon where you are in New Jersey you are either hearing a Brooklyn accent, a Philadelphia accent, a Hudson county accent or a true native New Jersey speaker - who does not *have* an accent.

To all of the above a Texas twang provokes a similar response.
