These squadrons are deployed at major naval bases (primarily, those bases that have heavy cruisers, carriers, or battleships) for servicing the crews of visiting warships. The objective is to field them in Brest, Toulon, Marseilles, Djibouti, Cam Ranh Bay, Papeete, and Suva Bay. The boats in Cam Ranh Bay are operated by the Indochinese Patrouille Navale.
