That would seem to be the case - which has its own issues. The tip-tanks are anachronistic for a piston type, but more to the point is that as a tail-dragger the view from the cockpit on takeoff would be terrible. Probably not much better on landing. And given the placement of the air scoop and everything that would be behind it, the aircraft could not have an effective tricycle landing gear.

Not that Iberia would use such visible markings in a shooting war.... ;)

And anyway, Iberia would never fight such a materielly inferior foe,
we'd have to stop producing any military materials for, ohh say 20 years,
to allow the Mexicans to catch up you see,
and Iberia can't do that to it's citizens....
20 years on the dole....there'd be a revolution!
And we couldn't be having that....look at the mess it made of Mexico!! :D

I'm guessing turboprop. Those ducts on the aft end seem to be indicative of either a turboprop or a turbojet, and the propeller hub looks like it came from one of the 1950s French Turbomeca turboprops. Just increased in size to become a Pendulous Protuberance.
