Never mind the Canadian Rangers. Bharat can draw upon some home-grown individuals for this task:

June 29th 1940 Following the offers to help rebuilt the Afghan Army the following tenders were put forward by the Afghan Government:

Request to British:

Fairey Battle bombers: With the bombers due to be drum out of service by the British they could come up cheap.

Hawker Hurricane II Fighters: Decent fighters and should also come up cheap

Lorries 3 tons 4x2: The need of transport for fast logistical purposes is necessary indeed to a growing army.

AEC Armored car with space to take the Indian 50mm AT gun: Directly to the AEC factory but of course needs british Government approval. Bharat will install the guns after delivery to Bharati facilites in Karachi with AEC technician help.

Carrier Machine Gun Mk1: Need to fast and mobile machinegun support is recognized.

Ordnance QF 3.7in Howitzer Mk I: A proven mountain artillery piece.

Request to Czechs:

VZ 24 rifles: Same caliber as Bharat, who can supply abundant stored rounds with faster delivery times due to distance.

ZB vz30 machine guns: Read above

Request to Bharat:

Bhandara 81mm MortarP: Small and reliable mortar that could give inmediate support to small infantry units.

Request to Yugoslavia:

In the present circumstances, Yugoslavia can consider augmenting its LONAAF contingent with a training mission comprising thirty-five officers and NCOs, with six Bu181 basic training aircraft and two Lockheed 212 Electra trainer/transports. Contractual obligations require that the Bu181s in question remain the property of the RYAF. Requests for additional new aircraft should be directed to the original equipment manufacturer.

July 8th 1940

War Office to Afghanistan Government

The Air Ministry has approved the sale of up to 24 Fairey Battle bombers which are currently stored. All have low flying hours and are kept servicable. Deilvery can be arranged by sea with assembly and testing in Iraq prior to delivery flights to Afghanistan. Price will be half of 'as new' price plus £5,000 per aircraft for assembly and overhaul. Armament can be changed on request.

The Air Ministry has approched Hawker Siddeley and they have agreed that that an order of new-build Hawker Hurricane II fighters could be fulfilled. These will be the last of the type to be built. Armament will be eight MGs. Rolls-Royce no longer builds the Merlin I so 1,100hp Merlin IV V-12 engines will be fitted with Vokes filters. Max speed will be 319mph at 17,750ft; range 450 miles and service ceiling 36,000ft. Hawker Siddeley will charge standard export prices for the fighters but the Air Ministry may be able to offer to pay to some of the cost if desired.

Lorries 3 tons 4x2 can easily be supplied and will be a mixture of Morris Commercial, Austin K3, Bedford OY models. In addition 3 ton 6x2 lorries of the Morris Commercial and Thornycroft types. : The need of transport for fast logistical purpos can also be supplied on request.

The War Office has no objections to AEC supplying the AEC Armored Car. AEC will deliver the stock vehciles to Bharati facilites in Karachi and provide AEC technical help.

The War Office will supply the Carrier Machine Gun Mk II instead of the Mk I as that is now the sole production variant.

The War Office will supply ex-British Army Ordnance QF 3.7in Howitzer Mk Is in batches of 48 as they come available during this year and next.

Field Marshalll Chandrateya look out of the window of his new headquarters and admired the view. The city was indeed very bright and the rain last night gave the city outside a magical view. So far for the last ten days his forces have slowly moved forward with no major effects to report. More problematic in his opinion was the expected reinforcements.

He read the list of units expected to reinforce his initial advance and sighted. Six Model 33 Divisions, one Expeditionary Type and two cavalry brigades. General Staff must be crazy. I hope they are following standard procedure. he thought while continue to read. The engineers have started to built an airfield near the city. The second in in the region. But getting aircrafts here will be problematic. Also the element of surprise is over. I bet by next week they will find out we are here in force.

This news seems highly premature, seeing as discussions in the League are still ongoing.

Undisclosed Location, 12:37 hrs, April 1st 1940,

Muhammad Ali Kammakuty left the cafe after enjoying his lunch with a small parcel under his arm. After looking in both directions he jumped in into the waiting taxi that took him to the Bharati Embassy. The contents of the small parcel left in diplomatic bag later on the day for Bharat with a couple of armed couriers.

Undisclosed location, 19:11 hrs, Jun 3rd 1940

The group of civilians looked at the uniformed man standing in front and began to move on his direction while the soldier started to unroll documents on the table. "Gentlemen, what we want from you is to come up with the supplementary parts to these plans we obtained not too long ago. As you can see is a radical design compared with anything we have built before but you will have time to come up with the parts required from you."

The men began to move around the table to observe the future of Bharat.

At last report Muhammad Ali Kammakuty, former naval attache at the Bharati embassy in Berlin, had been transferred to duties in the South African Empire. If he is still there, that is what it is. If he has returned to Germany, his arrival would be of interest.

Actually his last appearance was in Bushher during the Persian Civil War.

Then it would be correct to presume that he has not returned to Germany since his departure?

I can only find two threads in the forum that reference him, with his last posted location being 1937 in the SAE as part of Spearfish. I remember the exchange about "I am not a number!" from The Prisoner.

Quite correct; I've just searched myself. If he was in Bushir, he must have been un-named, or gone by another.

Very well - but I reiterate the question - would it be correct to presume that he has not since returned to Germany?
