Yeah, that's going to be a problem.

Considering how high it is, I'm sure that something major is going to need to be done.

Wes,

Shouldn't she be bulged as well? Historically the went to 102 ft in beam...

And the increased hull strength should solve the 'end-on' fire warning...

My thoughts,

Suppose that's going to be fixed before the ship is commisioned....

Honestly, I think the AA suit on this ship is rather weak for the time period. I'd consider doubling that, personally, or adding guns superfiring over the 15'' guns. JMHO.

You have a lot of extra hull strength. Something you could possibely do with that, or you could reduce the bulges to make it cheaper.

If you are going for a 50% refit, which it appears as if you are, since there isn't any coal firing, I'd recommend you increase the deck armour with the extra strength.

15" guns in single mounts? IIRC the Revenge Class have four dual turrets with two superfiring.

Heh, missed that too....15'' guns in deck mounts with hoists......

Well...there should be a torpedo bulkhead there, but I don't see it.
I'm also dubious that the barbettes were 8", or the casement faces 1". According to Conways, while designed for 16 x 6", they were resited during construction and 4 aft dropped, while 2 added, so 14 as built- the last two appear to be decklevel casements

Armour wise I'm basically going off what James sent me in his sim which appears to build on what Gravina posted in the UK section, 8".

I'm also NOT aiming for a 50% refit as there is the addition of bulges but no modifications to the TDS.

Hopefully all the bugs are now out of the design....

Did the British refitted the engines? The original revenge was oil/coal fired engines, So I have to agree with Texan Cowboy that if you mention oil only is a 50% refit. But I don't know if the SIM allows you to have a dual oil/coal system.

Also the terciary and AA armament I guess needs to be changed to 1940.

I think I'd agree. Actually, Turkey still has excellent coal reserves, so it might be more economical for Turkey to continue using the oil/coal-fired plant.

I based my R on the Gravina SS file.

Really I didn't want to assume the ships had been bulged in the 1920s because I couldn't find proof of that SIM wise with previous players and I didn't fancy saying "Hey guys my ships suddenly acquired bulges for free" as that would open a big can o' worms.

I'm not too fussed about what SS says as we all know those QEs and Rs when built fired their guns in anger and didn't tip over.

And yes my error, it should be coal and oil.

Hmmm I thought the orriginal sim by Gravina had them using oil fired boilers only?

Well for Revenge herself the bulges would have been pre-SIM. Not so for some of the rest.

Revenge (ex Renown)
Built by Vickers. Laid down 22 Dec 1913, launched 29 May 1915,
completed 3/1916. Fitted with bulges 10/1917-2/1918. Seaplane carrier
Campania drifted across her bows during a gale 5 Nov 1918,
sinking the carrier. Sold for scrapping 9/1948.

And from another site :
the Revenge class were smaller and cheaper than the QE’s and they were to be coal fired, thankfully during construction the design was altered and they reverted back to oil firing, original bunker capacity had been planned at 3,000 tons of coal and 1,500 tons of oil, this was changed to 3,400 tons of oil and 150 tons of coal but still gave a rather short range of action.

and from yet another the genisis for the change:
When Admiral Fisher returned from retirement as First Sea Lord he had the design altered to all oil fired.

Whitley also states all oil firing and also states Fishers hand in altering the design to all oil firing.

Conway's fighting ships 1906-1921 states the design was changed to oil only in January 1915. I guess this piece of info could help.

The way it was simmed in the encyclopedia, it is mixed coal and oil firing. The way it was in RL is irelevent, since the refit needs to be based off of the sim in the encyclopedia, IMHO.
