Order of Battle of the Ellinikós Stratós

Royal Hellenic Army Order of Battle- January 1938

On January 1938, Greece fielded 57 infantry regiments in fourteen divisions and one motorized brigade, three cavalry regiments in one cavalry division, and twenty-five artillery regiments. The local EPK combine builds French equipment under license up to heavy artillery level. Also a locally designed light machinegun is being issued to units as a squad support weapon. The Infantry divisions tend to vary in their organization, with all divisions assigned to Corps IV to VII having border regiments assigned to their headquarters (Those regiments are counted in the 57)

Tanks are currently concentrated in one tank regiment, one tank battalion assigned to the Cavalry Division and 16 independent tank companies. In addition all remaining Ft-17 tanks in service are currently being utilized by the Armored School located near Athens for training. Greece intends to purchase another batch of British Cruiser Tank Mark II and Mark II CS something during 1938 to replace older French equipment. The organization of the armored units varies; while the tank regiment is composed of British Cruiser Type tanks the tank battalion is composed of a mix of American M2A4 and French R-34 tanks and the independent companies are equip with the locally produced T-35 light tank.

Also notable in the Greek order of battle are the Evzones. Light infantry units with currently five regiments in service (counted in the 57 infantry regiments) with a heavier complement of sub-machineguns, machineguns and assault equipment assigned in their TO&E. Currently three of the regiments are organized as being the infantry of the Motorized Brigade.
