On the advice of Adm. Kuznetsov i have aquired "Fortress Europe" by Kaufmann and Jurga. This seems to be the definitive book on defensive positions and has lots of nice drawings. This data is lifted directly from the book for the time being;

Excellent book, isn't it?

Italian engineers designed some awesome alpine defenses, didn't they?

And go take a look at the coast artillery the Soviets had around Kronshtadt. Nobody is coming anywhere near that and living to tell the tale!

Yep those Alpine defenses are fiarly amazing. Especially when you figure about the terrain as well. I think that Italy is safer from ground attack than i previously thought.

I too have now aquired the book (the only one I didn't have to order!) and its very very cool. I've been working for some time on both a map of Atlantis and a list of coastal battery's both of which are related to each other. I hope to have a list completed soon!
