The Defence Ministry announced the naming of the newest vessels of the Royal Yugoslav Navy. The two armoured gunboats nearing completion at Bar will be commissioned as the Vardar and the Morava. The names were previously borne by river monitors.

All Belgrade and all Yugoslavia rejoices in the return to his native land of the internationally renowned physicist and engineering genius Nikola Tesla. The inventor of the electric motor, the man who gave the world electricity at the flick of a switch, has accepted an appointment to the Chair of Applied Physics at the University of Belgrade, where he will have the opportunity and resources to continue his research.

Yugoslav Aero Transport introduced to service the first of its newly received Lockheed Super-Electra twin engine airliners, which opened a new service today on the route Belgrade – Budapest – Prague – Berlin. To date three of the swift American- built transports have been received, and mark a renaissance in civil aviation in the kingdom.

The 1937 Graduating Class of the Royal Yugoslav Air Force’s Air Tactical School had the good fortune to be addressed by a number of dignitaries at their commencement ceremony, but notable among these was the American Claire Lee Chennault. Recently retired from the American air service, Mr. Chennault spoke eloquently on the subject of “pursuit aviation”. Reports have reached us that Mr. Chennault has accepted a three-month engagement to teach at the Air Tactical School.

The newly mechanised Seventh Armoured Cavalry Regiment, a part of the garrison here, paraded with its newly received LT.38 tanks and other vehicles, to the delight of the citizenry. Colonel Dobrosav Milenkovic, the colonel of the regiment, told his troops.
“We are at the point of the march column of Yugoslav military modernisation. The nation has provided us with tools worthy of the task. Let each and every officer and man of this regiment remember that we now set the standard which every soldier in the Army will follow. There is no turning back; there is but one order – Forward!”

Engineer Kosta Sivcev checked the papers in his briefcase, slipping into it the last of the drawings, specifications and sketches his team had laboured over in the last months. His colleague Stepan Zmic entered the office…
“You have all the drawings, right?” Zmic asked.
“Of course,” Sivcev replied. “Do you think I would forget such important things?”
“You know how important the presentation to the Defence Staff will be. I was just checking…” Zmic finished with a shrug.
“I will have an extra day in Belgrade just in case… there being no one at the Ministry on Monday.” Sivcev shrugged as well.
Zmic took Sivcev by the hand in a firm handshake, “Then to Project 220!”
