March 3, 1939 - Berlin
The revised, static design of Rheinmetall's 12.8 cm FlaK cannon has been accepted for production. The original design, with a mobile mounting, was rejected because of excessive weight. The new design actually weighs more, but is not intended to be a mobile mounting but is instead a mounting designed to be bolted down onto a concrete pad. However, while the design has been accepted, no orders have yet been placed for this heavy gun. [This is the historical 12.8cm Flak 40.]
