Nothing particularly wrong with the Battle apart from a lack of power. Replace the Merlin with an early Griffon of around 1500hp and you've got a pretty good attack aircraft.

There are some interesting twin engine Battle designs as well with what seem to be 2xPeregrine engines.

The real two-seat trainer version looks pretty wacky but I might convert a few.

I've got the Balmoral (land-based Barracuda) now to take care of my light bomber needs but I think the days of such bombers are numbered. Twin-engined fast types will do better than single engined.

Fitting a qaud .303n turret from a Defiant might be interesting too.
