"Oh, look! A storm front....."

"Storm front?"

"Yes, storm front. With big waves...."

"Oh,oh... Not these again!"

*SNAP!*

"Ooops.... Too late....."

Yeah, I know, 11:1 == bad?

but she's rather short-legged, so not really meant to operate in the open (and stormy) seas.

I think he knows the risks he's running. I'm not sure I'd run them but he obviously feels safe never having to operate in stormy seas...

Where are the 55mm AA guns from? It's not a common calibre for an AA gun and not very successful in this period without lots of R&D. I doubt they will be autos, maybe semi-auto like the British 57mm but again not as sophisicated since Siam hasn't got the skills to build modern AA weapons from scratch. If they come from elsewhere in Satsuma then its reasonable to assume they will work (kind of, even the RN hasn't mastered the semi-auto and the Admiralty is beathing down Vickers neck).

I'm assuming the 55mm's are rebarrelled versions of the Iberian 57mms, though I'm not sure why Siam would bother with the expense of the rebarrelling job.

The concern I can see with the 11:1 l:b ratio is that while the seas off Siam aren't normally that rough, there IS typhoon season, and at this time period they'll strike with little warning.

What is the designs role?

Out of curiosity, do I need to create a "Non-Wesworld Ship Design" folder for interested observers to post designs such as this, or for members to post other non-sim designs? If I was archive-diving a few years from now and found this thread, I might get a tad confused over whether or not it was a serious proposal for Siam, or just an introductory Springsharp. Of course there's always the Warship Projects Discussion Boards as a catch-all for NPC designs like this.

That may not be a bad idea, how about folders for air and land as well?

There's pretty limited action in the Land Folder for even Wesworld-related stuff. We've had a few awkward issues regarding folder permissions arising from the number of folders we have, so perhaps just one all-encompassing Non-WW Design Folder would be most apropos.

Too many sub folders will make navigating the board difficult, so I agree, one non-WW-design board should do.
