Azerbaijan and Armenia reconsider their prior position when they see the Persians arming for what apparently will be a major war.

((Dangit, I thought we were trying to defuse tensions in the region, not ratchet them up to Red Threat!))

If you were a conspiracy theorist you'd be saying the arms dealers are just cooking up all these sales to ratchet tensions to sell more arms to everybody! :D

So what does Azerbaijan and Armenia want? *opens glossy brochures of rifles, field guns, machine guns, bombs, aircraft, battleships, obital battle stations...*
"Great prices mate, fell off the back of a lorry, only been in four wars, did alright in the Great War, what dents? Nah, that's just broken in nicely that has, good for another 500 rounds, they don't build 'em like this nowadays guv, built to last! Breaks my heart to part with it, my grandad had one of these but it's a special price for you 'cos I like your face, I'll know you'll look after it and get the enjoyment from it!"

Total numbers of available 3" howitzers and 3" field guns are around 500 each, less than 100 3" cavalry howitzers are available.

The US suspects that the intent here is rearmament after the precipitious disarmament last year.

Azerbaijan has noted a disturbing trend in Persian political relations vis-a-vis the international community. First, they buy a bunch of weapons. Then they suddenly decide to ditch their army and "trust in the goddess" for national protection, then say everybody's out to invade/imperialize them. Suddenly, international relations steady out nicely and quietly, and the neighbors breathe a sigh of relief. Then the Persians start madly buying weapons again...

Azerbaijan is concerned about whatever the Persian leadership is drinking or smoking.

Heck, how many different armies does Persia have now? Four or five, it seems...

With nations like Azerbaijan as neighbour, no wonder they started drinking and smoking. :D

Azerbaijan, exceeding your expectations since 1918!

Yeah, those crazy Muslim people who believe in democracy and permitting women the right to vote. Who ever permitted THAT in western Asia? And why is the rum gone?

... because the pirates took all the rum.
Rum + Pirate = Happy Drunk Pirate

Indeed, and all this weapons shoping at the same time Afganistan has some unwanted Persian "guests" running accross their border. I'm sure if Persia's neighbours saw her current weapons shopping list, warning bells would be sounding not that they are not allready!

So RA what do you say?

As for other things Persia now has an modest armed force that with some modernization could fight the Boer war....

Sounds fine, but you'll be needing more horses for fighting the Boer War.

Well like I said some modernization required
