Local Defence Forces
By order of HIH the Local Defence Battalions were established compromising of 1400 Companies that in wartime grouped with the 350 Gendarm Post Companies to form 350 Local defense battalions. The LDF Companies mirrors the Gendarme Post Companies by compromising of
4 Officers, 12 NCO, 144 Troopers, 9 LMG
Rifles: The most common rifles are the Mauser Kar98a, IRF-05 and Springfield M1903* but a wide variety of former Persian amry rifles are used
MG: Nominally a LMG the Bhandara M1919 is the most common
LDF Artillery regiments are organized along the lines of the Cavalry Artillery regiments but lacking the AA battery and all are Horse drawn. 11 Regiments are being organized with 3 more to follow once the 18 pounders have been modernized by Skoda
LDF Artillery Regiment (436 men, 16 officers)
6 LDF Gun Battery (68 men, 2 officers, 6 Guns)
Command ( 28 men,4 officers)
10 Regiements are equipped with ex US 3" Fieldguns**
1 Regiement is equipped with Skoda M30 100mm howitzers
* In Persian service the Kar 98a is the M/13 while the IRF-05 is the M/16A and the M1903 is the M/16B
** Plans have been made to eventually rebuild these guns to accept the same ammunition as the 77mm M/15
