This is the Radio London; this is the 6 o’clock news.
Here are the headlines today.
First, riots yesterday in the seaside resort of Brighton caused thousands of pounds of damage and scared holiday makers as a gang of nearly thousand youths entered the Grand Hotel in pursuit of two leather-clad Rockers.
South Coast police say if the fights between rival gangs of Mods and Rockers continue stricter security measures will be enforced at railways stations in London and along the south coast.

The Prime Minister, Mr Wilson, today confirmed that the three-week strike at British Missiles Ltd has ended and that the contract to supply ground-to-ground rockets to the Arabian Confederation will go ahead as planned.

In the Commons today the Minister of Defence, Mr Benn confirmed the RAF would receive 120 BAC TSR.2 bombers by 1970 and that Australia and Canada would shortly be receiving their first production bombers. Mr Benn said today that world peace would be enforced by the new RAF bombers and that Britain and its allies and colonies were safe from foreign aggression.

The ten week sit-in at the Metropolitan London University ended today as the supplies of baked beans and beer ran out and the starving students felt they had made their point. A lanky spotty-looking spokesman said, “We’ve shown the reactionary conservative elites that we can stand for principles and world peace in a principled fashion with total freedom from the repression of the mind caused by narrow-mindedness caused by the police state crushing good will and free love.” The university refused to comment on whether it would be meeting the demands of the students for a one-day working week, free dope and the installation of beds for afternoon naps in lecture halls.

Crowds flocked to see the Chilean nuclear submarine Libertad which surfaced in the River Mersey today nearly colliding with the Mersey ferry. The crew on their world circumnavigation attempt it seems had got lost and were asking for directions to the Bahamas.

In America President Kennedy was present at the launch of Apollo 11 which is due to be the first American Moon landing some ten months after the Atlantean Lazarus 9 mission made the first ever Moon landing. Professor Quatermass of the British Rocket Group today said he hoped the first British mission using his atomic-powered rocket would take place next year.

The US Government has apologised to Satsuma for the recent crisis when a SAC commander, Maj General Jack D. Ripper launched his entire air wing of B-70 supersonic bombers and gave the orders to bomb Satsuma targets with H-bombs to prevent them from “corrupting our precious bodily fluids”. Luckily the wing was recalled in time by SAC command and the now dead commander is judged to have been insane.

In Bern the International Nuclear Disarmament Conference is still locked in stalemate as the Chinese representative stormed out after being insulted by the Canadian delegate and as news of a further H-bomb test by the South African Empire broke, several members left the chamber.

In Japan a thousand mourners were at the funeral of Ohisino “Crash” Manzo who died earlier this month. He was killed by a bus whilst crossing the road in his home town. A hundred former relieved colleagues and pilots from across the world attended and his coffin arrived in a special jet-powered aircraft hearse and from the airport to the burial ground by four-rotor helicopter.

That concludes today’s headlines. We’ll be back after a short break.

Interesting news.

Is there a welfare state given the UK's spending on rockets and aircraft?

At this point, the British government is just a sham facade for the ongoing World Domination by Canada's cabal of SuperScientists.

Darn underwater wormholes. I just knew attaching an FTL drive to an SSN was bound to fail...

Thats because you should be using Atlantean ZPM's!!!

Nice to see all my rocket science paid off for something.

.....and now we know when Manzo dies, so Walter can't use him in a nefarious suicide mission!!

ZPMs are so hard to import, I had to settle for M/ARC

The good news, they seem to work fine on Repulse & Renown's replacements.

One with good knowledge of Canada will know that Great Britain is nothing but a Canadian puppet.

Actually he would already have performed his mission and vanished from history. Those who truly know him, will know that the world is still not safe. :D

At least the TSR.2 will be ordered in great numbers in this world - that´s really good news. That plane is just awesome for its time....

Hey, you're most likely going to get most (or even all) of the Chilean SSN contracts that come down the pike, so... :P

Its a very expensive way of delivering 6000lb of iron bombs, and that's if the terrain following radar and computers can be made to work. It's a very nice design but of doubtful utility and pretty high cost.

So I guess we'll chalk up that FTL drive blunder on a contractual error :P

Hm. Mach 3 bombers heading for SATSUMA....

There's not much time to do that at Mach 3...

Lucky.
