Passenger ships

Well, Brockpaine's question regarding passenger/troops on liners got me looking at my own passenger ship designs. I decided to blow the dust from them... and mess around with a few more...

First one is one that has been posted before in the past. I looked up the SS 1 file and converted it to SS2... only to find out about 15 minutes later that I already had done that in the past. -_-;;
Used the vague class breakdown calculation (which is probably completely incorrect) in my spreadsheet for this design.

This one was designed at the same time as the Empress Shoken. Slightly smaller, but a lot faster. I never got to post her on the board.

Same 'problem' as with the Shoken when I found out that I already had converted the ship to SS2.

I've got this crazy liner idea I'll post in a few hours or so once I re-sim it with the new weight guidelines I have. It's an IRISH ocean liner. :D :P

Most sad that Chile doesn't really have a market for good ocean liners! I've simmed up some cargo-mail ships, though...

Love to know how you will get it to the other side of the Pacific. You need to get away as quickly as possible but at full speed you won't even be able to make Hawaii. Go slower and the IJN will catch up with the ship. :)

Yes, that seems to work well. I still wish I could find an appropriate 33-knot civilian ship to appropriate, but, well, that's taking "escort carrier" a bit far! :P And in any case, the ship's going to be used more as a training CV and maintenance ship than a proper carrier, anyway...

Your comments as well as the sim I posted. I don't think it is exactly the same as before. And regarding the "taking "escort carrier" a bit far" bit, it would depend on what you plan to escort. If that vessel/those vessels are not that fast, 33 knots is not necessary at all. :)

Primarily, the Chiloe is going to serve in peacetime as a pilot-training ship and aircraft maintenance vessel for Libertad and Mapuche. In wartime, she'll probably be pressed into service as an aircraft transport ship, ASW hunter-killer flagship, and maintenance carrier.

If I got a 33-knotter merchie, she'd probably be used as a training CV in peacetime but as a front-line light carrier in wartime.

Seriously, though, who builds 21,000-ton passenger/cargo liners that can do 33 knots? Most of the liner-merchies I've found in my research are doing good to make twenty-one knots, let alone thirty-three! :P
