Over view

Heavy Tanks
Atlantis has had little design work on Heavy Tanks, none progressing past initial drawing board preposals, due to the percieved lack of need for a breakthrough tank. That mindset has changed somewhat due to the increased international requirements due to various treatys.

Design work has slowly progressed but with the creation of the business consortium of TRANSAL, consisting of several manufacturer's from various FAR nations, designwork has increased. Two types are to be developed, a fast heavy cruiser tank and an infantry tank. Design of the first type has progressed quickly by simply upsizing current medium cruiser tank design, resulting in the AT-36 which is armed with a 75mm gun and uses sloped armour. Several designs are being examined for the infantry tank.

Medium tanks
Atlantis has several Medium tank designs in service, also as with heavy tanks the Medium tanks are catagorized under two seperate types, medium cruiser tank and medium infantry tank.

For a medium cruiser tank Atlantis has the AT-39 armed with either a 75mm gun or a 90mm gun. This tank is slowly replacing the venerable AT-36 and AT-35 tanks. The AT-36 is armed with either a 57mm gun or more commonly a 75mm gun. The AT-35 is armed with a 57mm gun and equiped with sloped armour. Two medium infantry tanks no longer in service are the AT-27 armed with a 37mm gun and the AT-33 armed with a 57mm gun. The later design is for all tence and purposes an improved AT-27, a design which was slowly replaced by the AT-33 and AT35 designs (with over 800 in sevice).

Atlantis has two light tank designs in service. The first is the new AT-38 armed with a 57mm gun and is now the primary light tank in service.

The second design is the AT-34 which uses components from the two previous designs (AT-31 and AT-32), utilizes sloped armour and is armed with a 25mm quick firing gun.

Two designs are no longer in service. The first, the AT-31, is based on the Christie 1931 design. The tank is armed with a 37mm gun. The second is the AT-32 which is a slower design but armed with either one 37mm gun and additional machine guns or a pure machine gun armament. This later version quickly fell out of favor however, being easily replaced by armored cars similarily armed.

These tanks all replace the venerable AT-17, a tank based on the French FT-17 of great war vintage.

AT-37 (TT-37)
Originally designed by transall to be a standard FAR heavy tank, the TT-37 is largely based on a design by Russian Zhozef Kotin and utilizes experience from other designers and manufacturers from various FAR nations.

The design will see several minor changes depending on each nations specifications, the AT-37 is the Atlantean version. The design uses sloped armour for its heavy Glasis plate and very thick armour for its mantlet as well.

AT-35 1A1 Cruiser tank





The AT-35 "Sabre" is a new design based on what amounts to an enlarged AT-31/32 chassis and hull using sloped, welded/cast armour, Christie patterned suspension and the new Aspis arsenal 57mm gun.

The design also enjoys an improvement over its predesessor's in the area's of firepower, protection speed and range.

AT-33 (AT-27 MK II)Infantry tank

The AT-33 "Sentinel II" is an improvement over the AT-27 design, using experience gained from that design. The AT-33 1A1 has improved armour and is armed with the new Aspis arsenal 57mm gun as opposed to the standard Aspis arsenal 37mm tank gun. Speed is also considerably better than the AT-27. After an initial production run of 192 1A1's the hull was modified to mount the turret of the AT-35 in an effort to standardise tank components. This model is known as the AT-33 1A2.

As with the AT-27, the AT-33 hull will be utilised for a self propelled artillery and AA mount. In addition a turretless infantry support model using the new Aspis Arsenal 75mm Howitzer is under developement.

AT-27 MK IA1 infantry Tank



AT-27 1M1 Infantry Tank (Mexican 47mm version)



Designed as an infantry tank, the AT-27 1A1 was designed with the requirement that it be armed adequately to not only support infantry but to defeat enemy tanks if needed as well. This resulted in less than desireble armor for the design (quite normal for the period however).

The designs hull has also been used for a number of support roles, such as a self propelled artillery version, AA version and a heavily modified artillery tractor version. The AT-27 1A1 is also licence built in Mexico to slightly different specs, known as the AT-27 1M1, with a heavier 47mm gun. The Mexicans have also created their own self propelled design based on the AT-27 1A1.

Presented following mixed results from the 1928 design, the 1931 design would later influence the AT-32 design. Two variants, armed with either a 37mm gun and two 30cal MG's or 2x50cal and 3x30cal MG's, were produced in limited numbers, later relegated to training duty's (AT-31 1A1's). Following Mexican interest the design's production was reinstated.
