Mexican Light Battleship

Something that has been in the works for a long time now, some of you might remember it. A light battleship designed to operate in the Caribbean. I have a full range of designs, with armor from 7" to 12" and speed from 27kts to 32kts. Here are the two latest versions. I am currently leaning towards the second as I feel it is the most balanced one for the money. Thoughts?

I am also considering a 17" gunned ~35k ton BB for the Pacific fleet, and would like some input as to which ship I should build first.

...interesting, half armoured-cruiser and half coast defense ship. Not quite as fast or powerful as the French battlecruisers, but definitely in the same vein.

I think I agree on the second vessel being better.

Don't think that half an inch of TBH will be useful. I'd go for the second one as well.

Agree. I put 1" on the Constitution and Libertad, but even that is light IMHO. The USN, I understand, felt three layers of 20mm was sufficient for a battleship TDS... so that's what I aim to put on battleships.

I don't really see it as a true TBH as that would require space which I don't have. I see it more as representing increased subdivisions and strengthen bulkheads. It is more of an issue of containing the damage than blocking it.
