As far as I'm concerned, CG is running Peru with Tanthalas gone again. However, I believe Peru doesn't have the ability right now to pay, seeing as they're trying to finish the Villar and getting CLs and DDs from India. I'll look back over their reports and run some numbers just to double-check.

Sadly but true. The past administration in Peru makes me look like a tight wad. :D

I think you did a very good job in Peru, by the way. A bit battlewagon-heavy, but still a formidable force for the time period you had to grow it in.

Regarding Peru:

Q1/37 - Tanthalas's Last Report
INCOME
- 4,000 tons production
- 114 tons stockpiled from Q4/36

OUTGO
- 3,000 tons to India for Almirante Villar; 10,800 tons until complete.
- 1,100 tons to India for Sittwe or Pondicherry?
- 14 tons stockpiled

Q2/37 - Unwritten report (Hypothetical)
INCOME
- 4,000 tons production
- 14 tons stockpiled
- 100 tons from Iberia

OUTGO
- 3,000 tons to India for Almirante Villar; 7,800 tons until payment complete.
- 1,114 tons to India for three PDE-1 destroyers (payment 1 of 2, 846 tons remaining)
- No stockpile

Q3/37 - Unwritten report (Hypothetical)
INCOME
- 4,000 tons production

OUTGO
- 3,000 tons to India for Almirante Villar; 4,800 tons until payment complete.
- 846 tons to India for three PDE-1 destroyers (payment 2 of 2)
- 154 tons stockpiled

Q4/37 - Unwritten report (Hypothetical)
INCOME
- 4,000 tons production
- 154 tons stockpile

OUTGO
- 3,000 tons to India for Almirante Villar; 1,800 tons until payment complete.
- 1,154 tons available?

------------------------

Additionally, Howard also committed Peru to buying a Russian carrier, with 2,000 tons sent in Q4/36; it didn't show up in Tanthalas's Q1/37 report but I believe the Russians did start the conversion. Unless I'm mistaken, there's another 1,781 tons on that project.

There's a couple alternatives here - Peru can pay less on the Villar and try to pay off the Russian carrier in Q3. Iberia's been helping Peru out but that still puts the Russian carrier as a Q3/Q4 37 business.

Actually only 2810 tons are applied to the ship per quarter qith 190 tons going to Bharat. I negotiated that deal as Peru. I know, like to overpay. :D So as long as Bharat gets their 190 tons they can lower their payments. Currently I got Peru paying 3000t in Q4 1937 with 190t to Bharat, 1991t in Q1 1938 with 190t goring to Bharat and 1090t in Q2 1938 with 761tons going to Bharat as final construction payment. And the ship is paid up completely three quarters before construction is completed in February 1939. Food for thought and will not mind changing the reports.

To come back to the ships offered here lately. To remind you:

Quoted

In 1937/38 the RSAN will also make some cruisers available to the market.

RSAN Kimberley and RSAN Welkom were extensively rebuild in 1924. They saw no combat action but were used for extended patrol and escort duties. Kimberley is at 99% and Welkom at 97% respectively. Price tag is at 2000 tons each.

Four out of six units of the Port Shepstone class survived the war. Operating from Douala they saw extensive wartime service but with the exception of Port Alfred (machinery breakdown in March - 84%) they are in nearly good condition (99%). Price tag is at 2500 tons each.

For those currently planning their budget for light crafts and escorts: Starting in 1938 there will be 6 slightly used light destroyers of the Pleiades class available. All units were laid down ´23/24 and need some maintenance but are otherwise in fighting order (various states 95%-100%). This includes the RSAN Elektra wich hit a wreck post-war and needed some extensive repairs. She´ll be in perfect trim most likely (given our rules and the massiv investment necessary to repair even minor damage). Price tag is at 300tons/unit.

Additionally there are a dozen E-class and G-class submarines available if there is a potential buyer out there. Price is completely open to debate.

Submarines... how many of each class and when did they have a refit?

Speaking of submarines for sale, the US is going to be selling off it's R and S class subs, if anyone's interested.

The number 1 submarine nation is always interested... even if the submarines are not so modern. :)

Refits? Muahahahahaha...

A dozen each, all laid down 1916/17, no refits, not rebuilds, no lifetime expansion. So actually they are more than 20 years olf and at the end of their carreer if nobody is willing to take them and spend money for a 25% (well, 15% because they are so small) refit.

Okay. Had to do a little bit of guessing of the light displacement since those RSAN subs have only partial SS data posted in the encyclopedia. 12xG class and 12xE class for 1050 tons?

US: 5xR and 27xS for 2250 tons?

I took the stats from one of my books - all based on historcal designs. You can check the net or your own books for light displacement stats.

Offer noted but rated too low for 24 submarines.

Well it is just above scrap value... which is always a good place to start. :)

Indeed, a place to _start_ it is...

94

Saturday, May 2nd 2009, 2:03pm

It is a good place to start ESPECIALLY considering that the SAE has not bothered to give them a proper refit and that they are way beyond their refit date... This definitely has an serious effect on their value (and because of that, they might not even be worth the scrap value of 1009t which was my guess based on a number of SS designs of similar size). It is quite possible that the RSAN wants too much for them... but we'll see.

Your math I cannot escape but if I just get srap value I better scrap them before handing them over to a power which I cannot really trust in. ;o) So either big benefit or I turn them into razor blades....

Of course this might be different for other countries. ;o)

Which makes you wonder, why a nation with a developed submarine industry and an extensive sub building program would want to buy such elderly boats. Its already #1 (if thats what Japan is really interested in maintaining) and can build that many boats, brand new over the course of 1-2 years.

It makes sence for smaller nations but not larger ones...

Turkey offers 3,000 tons for the entire list of American R and S subs.

Then why hasn't it been posted by Hrolf?

The only thing I can find in the encyclopedias is that R-23 and R-24 are leased to Mexico. Considering that the US now wants to sell its R class submarines, that means that the lease program comes to a end and Mexico has to give the subs back to the US.
