There will be a little delay in replying to bids as I moved house yesterday and will be naturally busy over the next couple of days.

I think he's smart enough not to sell those carriers to either Mexico or Australia. :)

Or China, I'd think. Considering how likely it is they'd be turned around and sent to San Hainando.

I agree, but I think that there is more Iberian territories in the Americas than in Asia.

Sure, because San Hainando is far away from China, so only carrier will hit the island :D . No chance for landbased aircrafts ....

San Hainando is much MUCH further from Iberia than it is from China and I'm sure landbased aircraft can hit it. I'd think the Chinese would use the carriers to attack bases much further from China.

That said the carriers up for bid really don't carry many aircraft (12 each?) and even if China could get their hands on all of em I don't think they represent a huge strike force. My light carrier Alioth carry's more aircraft....

Yep they are dinky, short and limited capacity. Hard to operate a full squadron of torpedo bombers from one I'd guess.

They really can only fit enough planes for one role, but the one I *think* the Siamese need is fighter cover...and 12 fighters or fighter-bombers can be armed and launched in a reasonable time.

Allowing opposing recon to be destroyed- blinding the foe is important...but also if landbased/flying boats are used for long range strikes, they will likely be unescorted, and those fighters would be of use. Even against an escorted strike they should have some use.

Anyhow, they are cheap enough, small enough, and of the right speed to fit the Siamese fleet. We'll see if they get any.

Oh my god ;) you understand the joke or ???

And by the way, why everybody is thinking, that China is an agressor ??? :( The carrier could also be used to patrol against piracy.

Pirate hunting is really overkill for a CVE let alone an assualt carrier which is what Italy converted them into IIRC. That said they could easily be converted back to a CVE configuration.

The small carriers have been sold.

They're really only useful for carrying fighters or reconnaissance aircraft, but are cheap for that.

The United States will be offering six Sampson class destroyers for sale in 1939, built 1915-17.

They are quite old. relatively slow and weakly armed. Other than that, they are a great buy for a young growing navy!

Those were the six Caldwell Class

In other news the Siamese did arrange to purchase 2 small carriers, the 3 escort cruisers and were surprised and thrilled to receive the gift of the 10 Perla class subs. Overall this nicely rounds out the Siamese fleet.
