The Persian Ministry of Defence is issuing an Request for proposals concerning mortars (80-105mm) and heavy machine guns (11-14mm), both are to be open orders with a minimum of 60 mortars and HMGs ordered

Drat, that leaves the US 4.2" mortar out, since it's smoke (and chemical) only. Oh, well.

The US submits the .50 caliber (12.7mm) M2 Browning HB HMG and the standard M1 3.2" (81mm) mortar.

Chemical warfare, hmmm...but is the M2 really available yet (OTL 1943)?

Since no one ekse seem interested Persia is placing an initial order for 100 each of M2HB and M1 this will be follwed by as need orders

The M2 (water-cooled version) was first accepted historically in 1923. The air-cooled versions were accepted in the early-mid 1930s, since the M2HB version was accepted in 1938 after finding out that the original ground-mounted air-cooled versions needed heavier barrels.
