Clearly a group of fanatics…

It was announced yesterday that a freighter from Yonaguni-jima heading to Okinawa and Kobe never reached its stop at Naha Port on Okinawa. It is believed that it might have had an accident on the way and rescue units from Iriomote-jima and Okinawa are searching along its last known route.

Two cargo ships heading to Formosa failed to arrive there while a third arrived there with major damage escorted by the Coast Defense Battleship FINS Mishima. The Huarien Maru was under attack by a pirate vessel when the Mishima spotted this attack. It is almost certain that if the Mishima did not see the incident, the cargo ship would have gone to D.J.’s Locker. Upon seeing the arrival of the Mishima, the pirate vessel – believed to be a torpedo boat or a small destroyer – quickly left the scene.
With this incident, it seems more likely that the freighter that was lost about a week ago was attacked by pirates as well.

Nagano Yasunori, AWNR: Japan’s star reporter (and only reporter available to AWNR: Japan ^^;;), had to go into hiding today from some debt collectors. Having a habit to gamble a lot has gotten him into trouble after losing a certain amount of money in Las Vegas last week.
No one knows where he is and the director of AWNR: Japan is extremely worried about this since this means that there will be no news reports available from outside Kyoto, where AWNR: Japan is located. Rumors have it that Nagano’s debt is about 2 million yen.

A suicide attempt by the Director of AWNR: Japan failed spectacularly yesterday. When he jumped off the roof of the AWNR: Japan building, a biplane crashed into the side of it one floor lower and the Director landed on the tail. The tail snapped off and the Director hit the ground 1 meter lower. The Director was taken to the Meiji Hospital but the pilot of the plane had already left the scene before the rescue services arrived.
It is not known why the Director jumped off the AWNR: Japan building because it is only 3 meters high but it might be due to the Director’s poor eyesight. This suicide attempt might be caused by the disappearance of Nagano Yasunori and the dropping interest in AWNR: Japan lately.
(OOC: no points for guessing who flew the plane)

Stock Market data based on data at http://www.polarpacific.com/Articles/Posts/nikkei.htm (well as best as I could)
Exchange rate based on data from http://www.forex-markets.com/webcharts.htm (Japanese 1922 yen is based on the real life 1998 yen while the ryo is calculated using the gold price for that time divided by 100 and add 1 to the total)

With "using the gold price for that time" I mean the gold price in 1998.

Would it be difficult to set up our own wesworld stock market data and set up our respective nations currency?

I'm not sure if it's easy if you work on it from scratch. Might be best if you could use existing data for that.
I have some idea and can go on for something like... 2004 for the Stock Market. As for the Yen/Ryo exchange. I used 1998 as base for 1922 so I only have for six years data on that... I'll see what i'll do after that.
