Legionnaire II

Just testing the waters, impressed by the new Japanese tanks during the Hammer 36 exercises and hearing the rumors about US/German AFV´s about to enter production Persia approached EWIL to make a upgraded Legionnaire widened with a 90 degree rotated Bofors M28 AA gun and better radio equipment.

Heh, must be pretty good rumors, Germany won't have any truly new medium or heavy tanks until at least 1938, and the US won't get the M3 medium done until later in 1937 (the M6 heavy won't be ready until 1938 or later).

Well a 150mm Assaultgun, 75mm Pz IV and M3´s are worrying enough not to mention the Russian T-34/57´s (forgot what they are called in WW)

this seems huge!

On the edge of Germany & Russia, Nordmark is supposed to be building a turret to fit on the Panzer III hull armed with a 57mm gun. Anything bigger still seems overkill.

Bofors M28...hmmmm

I know denmark has been accused of starting an arms race with the converted 57mm aa guns mounted in the Sandspringer as a quick fix to a gap in capability, but an 88mm armed tank????

is it just me, or is this too much too soon?????

EDIT
Ok, I'm officially confused now, 1 site says it was 88mm, another says 75mm....help!

I think its this 75mm/60 gun actually. I'm not really convinced of the current need to be able to penetrate ~100mm of armour at long range.

Its a 75mm AA Gunfor export ( a variant used in Sweden as lvkan m/37 and as strvkan 74 later)

Keep in mind that the 75mm Panzer IV produced in 1937 will be armed with the short 75mm howitzer, just like the ones that were produced in 1936 (Germany doesn't have a L43 or L48 75mm available in 1937). Any US M3 production in 1937 will be armed with a short 3" howitzer as well, because while the US has a 3" AA gun available, the turret for the M3 wasn't designed for it and modifying the turret design will take time (not to mention that as of the end of 1936, the US hasn't really gotten word of the Type 96).

There's a picture of the 75mm M/28 here: http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/AA_GUNS3.htm

Hmm, I am getting annoyed and confused depending on source the AA guns delivered to Persia were m/28, m/29 or m/30 (and m/37 later)...

Niether am I, even mounting a 57mm is rather large but based on the German use of a 50mm not too large. I'd just be beating a dead horse if I continued to argue against however....

Looks like the AT-36 just might have to jump to a High MV 75mm gun to put these rumors to bed.

Like I said testing the waters, nothing actually decided
