Recoilless Rifles?

Has any WW nation introduced these? And is anyone planning on using the Carl Gustav M/42?

I expect the historical Davis guns were developed in the US, but they may or may not have been sold to the British and used during the Great War.

Germany will probably be fielding it's historical recoilless weapons starting in 1938 or so, to the Fallschirmjaegers and perhaps mountain troops. Currently, there are no plans to issue them to regular units.

The US will probably issue M18 57mm recoilless weapons starting around 1942. The 57mm weapons will be followed by the 75mm M20, etc.

Asked about the M/42 sice it would make an nifty AT weapon for light infantry

It would be nice if it was available 3 or years previously but by 1942/43 it just doesn't have the penetration. The terminal effects of a 20mm round on a 30ton+ tank are fairly questionable as well.

Unless someone introduces HEAT/EFP soon it still makes a nice portable weapon at 11kg and 40-60mm penetration, of course we are talking introduction in 1937-39

IMO we should be talking about recoilless weapons perse akin to the ones utilized by the Germans in OTL. For one Bharat will seek license of the historical 75mm for use in the Afghani-Bharat border. Less weight and easy to carry.

Why should we be talking about OTL German RR?
