German coast defence ships

One of the suggestions for future DKM construction in the post-1936 period was coast defence ships, a class of vessels the DKM has so far avoided. Here's a couple possibilities for comment.

120m for the first design seems a bit short for three turrets....?! Have you checked a deckplan?

I see. Thanks for posting.

To me she looks quite cramped despite buying room due to a broad beam. Those side turrets and magazin spaces needed for them are a designers nightmare I suppose.

Me wonders how much noise, vibrations and fumes from that stack/bridge combination causes troubles to the commanding crew. Her bridge must be an awful place to work at....

Coastal Defence against whom? A couple of gunboats to keep the Belgians at bay over the Rhine should suffice. There's a bit more coastline thats practicable to defend in the Baltic but probably not at that cost.

Keeping the Belgians at bay is always a good idea, just ask the Kongolese.
