Anglo-Persian Treaty

Article I
The Government recognises that the security and military defence of Iraq rests on the responsibility of the British Government until the Iraqi military forces are capable to do so. Defence control and defence policy making is in the hands of the British Military Mission in Baghdad until that time and Persia undertakes to respect the Iraqi borders as laid down in the terms of the Karachi Agreement.

Article II
The Government of Persia recognises that Great Britain has the right to maintain security and military defence of the oil producing regions and any other business interests in Iraq, Egypt and Palestine and has the right to station sufficient forces of the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force to maintain security and also to build and maintain bases for defensive purposes in these countries.

Article III
The Government of Great Britain undertakes not to station troops in Persia to protect her economic assets in the said nation in times of strife and war unless invited by the Persian government and respects the current Persian borders.

Article IV
The Government of Great Britain guarantees free access to the Straits of Homuz in peacetime if Great Britain finds herself at war with a non-SATSUMA member then the Straits will remain open to civilian traffic as long as is possible.

Article V
In the event of war between Great Britain and a non-SATSUMA member the Government of Persia shall provide use of facilities and other assistance to ensure the safety of the Persian Gulf and the coast of Iraq.

Article VI
In the event of war between Persia and a non-NATO or SEAR member the Government of Great Britain shall provide facilities and other assistance to ensure the safety of the Persian Gulf and the coast of Persia.
