RGB12-type River Gun/torpedo Boat

RGB 12-ton River Gun/Torpedo Boat

Dimensions:
- Length (w/l): 55 feet
- Beam: 11 feet
- Draft: 4
Displacement: 12 tons
Armament:
- 1x20mm Oerlikon
- 2x18"TT or 1x81mm mortar
- 2 D.C.
Machinery: 2x 600 hp petrol engines (PPTAS-12V)
Speed: 41 knots
Cruising radius: 300 nm
Crew: 3 (Commander/driver, gunner, engine/torpedoman

These 55-foot, 12 ton, 3-man boats carry a single Oerlikon 20mm gun and two 18" torpedoes in stern slips. The torpedoes can be removed and a plate fastened in place permitting the mounting of a Brandt mle 27/31 81mm mortar, with three additional crewmen. Two 50kg depth small charges can also be strapped to the side of the cockpit. For additional firepower, submachine guns, rifles, and pistols may be carried by the crew. The 18" torpedoes are launched through stern-mounted torpedo slips, and thus the boat must be moving faster than the torpedoes when it fires them. These boats are modeled somewhat off the Thornycroft coastal MTBs, and are intended for service as patrol and police craft on the Danube.

The PPTAS-12V petrol engine is manufactured by Plovdiv Pozharnikar Tovaren Avtomobil Stroitel (translated "Plovdiv Firefighter Lorry Builder"), which is Bulgaria's chief manufacturer of firetrucks. The boats themselves are assembled by the Burgas Yahta Korabostroitelnitsa (Burgas Yacht Shipyard) facilities in Burgas.
