Noticias desde Mexico Q3/4 1936

Also includes some from late Q2. Investigations into the Assasination Attempt continue...

From Wikipedia, History of Mexico:

...the assasination attempt on President Lazaron Cardenas shook the nation. Cardenas was one of the most respected presidents. Even his most ardent oponentes decried the assasination. But it soon became clear that the attempt was part of a deliberate effort to destabilize the nation, and that it had been conducted by an outside party. Not only had the President been attacked, but a Minister, two Senators, and a Deputy where killed.

The investigation into the attack made immidiet headway, but the true mastermind behind the attack remained a myster. Its discovery would lead to war...

Sometime in June

"Are you sure?"

"Definately, it is a German made 15/7.92mm Gerlicher round. It is used only on the PzB 32 and 34 anti-tank rifles, and as far as we know, they have not been exported."

"Then who could have gotten their hands on one?"

"Germans for sure, other possibilities include the Nords, Indians, and Lithuanians..."

Street in Mexico City

"So how many did you see?"

"I think two or three."

"Where were they?"

"Over there, on that rooftop."

"Are you sure?"

"Well I heard a loud noise and when I turned I saw them there. Not many pale faces around here.

Port of Veracrus

"Yes, two men, definately Gringos."

"What did they want?"

"They bought two tickets to Miami."

"Do you have their names?"

"Yes, let me look... one Henrik Jacobsen, and Roy Brun."

"Is this one of them?"

[picture is shown]

"Yes..."

Headquarters of the Federales

"So what have you found?"

"We tracked two of the men to Veracruz, from there they took a boat to Miami. The FBI has been notified but they have no information at the time.

The hired gunman we captured did not know much, only that he was approached by a non-descript Priest."

"A Cristeros connection?"

"We don't believe so, apperantly some sort of cover.

We did find the identy of one of the men, Henrik Jacobsen is apperantly an ex-Nordmark Army Seargent. Retired a couple of years ago. The other man we also believe to be a Nord."

"What about the other two?"

"One we believe left Acapulco bound for Japan. The fourth headed for South America...."

July

Headquarter of the Federales

"Any new information into the lcation of our fugitives?"

"The FBI was able to give us some information. Henrik Jacobsen arrived in Miami on the 30th of June, he then traveled north and left New York City around the 10th of July. Destination unkown but thought to be in Europe. Inquiries to the Nordish Embassy have been fruitless, according to them, he does not exist.

Roy Brun left Miami for Cuba soon after arriving. We have no further information on him, but have reason to believe him to be a South African.

The third man, we have scant information for. He dissapeared as soon as he arrived in Asia.

The last man we have identified as Jorge de la Hoya. A man suspected of being a Peruvian spy. We have tracked him back to Peru and our contacts there have found him. He was also seen in company with a man bearing a close resemblance to the priest we spoke of earlier. This might be our big break."

"Very good. Now I want those two, bring them to me, I would prefer them alive, but dead works too."

"What are the rules of engagement?"

"Those two have top priority, anyone who interferes with this operation, you are to terminate with extreme prejudice. That is all."

Considering that according to the previous post, the man had left Acapulco bound for Japan, there is a good chance that he has disappeared permanently (a pair of nice concrete shoes perhaps, or maybe he was turned into a part of the foundation of a new building). :)

Concrete shoes is an Italian speciality. I'd expect something along the lines of "fishfood" from the Japanese.

Streets of Mexico City

The Federales were keeping a close eye on the two men. Their arrival in Acapulco from Siam was a cause for concern, and the a contact in the Embassy to Siam had spotted two men meeting their description carrying an unusual rifle while in Siam. THAT had gotten the Federales attention, and since their arrival the two men had been closely followed. Unfortunately no leads had opened...

"What the hell are they doing right now? Did he just flash his money?"

"Apperantly they haven't been in Mexico long."

"What's that over there?"

"What? Uh, oh. Mafiosos from the look of it and they got a wiff of our guys' money."

"Signal the other team members, it's about to get ugly soo..."

BANG BANG BANG

"...make that right NOW! Mierda! They are armed!"

BAM

"I know that!"

BANG

"Not the mafiosos, the guys we are following!"

BANG BANG BAM BANG

"There's the reinforcements! Let's GO!"

Late July

The Federal Police has announced that five men where killed in the firefight yesterday. One* of those killed is suspected to be one of the four men suspected of being part of the assasination plot on el Presidente. Two policemen where injured and two mafiosos captured...

*Documents released in the 80s show that the man killed, one Rhyma Chryan, was not the 4th shooter. The identity of the 4th man has remained a mystery to this day. Some Japanese witnesses claim to know what happened but all Japanese records where lost in the Tokyo fire of 1938.

From: Aguila Negra, Mexico's Black Ops, Published 2003

...the capture of Jorge de la Hoya would be one of the Aguilas most succesful operations. Despite unexpected resistance from Peruvian police, and ruthless actions in the firing of a church, the Aguilas completed their mission and were able to capture and return to Mexico alive Jorge de la Hoya and Pedro de Jesus Maldonado. This would be the first big break in the investigations into the assasination attempt of President Cardenas.

Tha planning for the operation began in...
