Persian Airways

The Persian Government has decided to create an Persian national flag carrier. For that reason the Government is issuing an RfP for:

24 Short/Medium range passenger aircraft carrying at least 20 passengers

8 Long range passenger aircraft

one type which is still in use at the EURASIA Aviation Inc., the Shennong - Dragonfly (see China Encyclopedia).

But if it's too small, may be Shennong Aircraft Ltd. will built an upgrade.

Britain can offer the following;

Airspeed
Airspeed AS.6 Envoy; first flown on 26th June 1933 this seven-seat airliner has had some export success. Engines vary according to customer specification and include the; 200hp Wolseley AR.9, 240hp Lynx IVC, 350hp Wright R-760-E2 Whirlwind, 250hp Wolseley Scorpio I and the 350hp AS Cheetah IX. Series I aircraft had no trailing-edge flaps, Series II had three-piece split flaps and the Series III now under test has several other refinements. Exports have been made to Czechoslovakia powered by 340hp Walther Castor engines. Dimensions; 52.4/ 34.6/ 9.6/ 339 sq ft; 2x 350hp Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah IX; max speed 210mph; range 650 miles and service ceiling 22,500ft.

Avro
Avro 652; designed to an Imperial Airways specification for a small four-seat monoplane airliner for colonial use this small twin-engined aircraft was only built in very small numbers from 1934. Four are currently used as mailplanes in the Far East. Dimensions; 56.5/ 42.3/ 13.1/ 410 sq ft; 2x 350hp Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah IX; max speed 188mph; range 790 miles and service ceiling 19,000ft.

De Havilland
De Havilland D.H.84 Dragon; this highly successful feederliner has been in production since 1931 and over 100 have now been built and exported aboard. Six to eight passengers can be carried. Dimensions; 47.4/ 34.6/ 10.1ft; 2x 130hp de Havilland Gipsy Major; max speed 130mph; range 460 miles and service ceiling 12,500ft.

De Havilland D.H.86 Dragon Four; developed for a government specification for an airliner for long-distance flights over water and tropical conditions so safety was a priority. It was a scaled up Dragon and first flew in early 1934. Imperial Airways brought ten in early 1935. Dimensions; 64.6/ 46.1/ 13 ft; 2x 200hp de Havilland Gipsy; max speed 195mph; range 690 miles and service ceiling 17,400ft.

De Havilland D.H.89 Dragon Rapide; this development of the D.H.84 for Hillman Airways Ltd was first flown by Hubert Broad on 17 April 1932. Since ordered by Railway Air Services and Olley Air Service Ltd in addition to Hillman production continues and the D.H.89A newly introduced has trailing-edge flaps on the lower wings. Five to six passengers can be accommodated in addition to the pilot. Dimensions; 48/ 34.6/ 10.3/ 340 sq ft; 2x 200hp de Havilland Gipsy Queen; max speed 157mph; range 570 miles and service ceiling 19,500ft.

De Havilland D.H.91 Albatross; designed as a transatlantic mailplane to Specification 36/33 the first prototype of this sleek monocoque wooden aircraft first flew on 20 May 1935. Fourteen are on order for Imperial Airways, six as D.H.91 mailplanes and the remaining eight as 22 passenger airliners for European routes. QUANTAS have placed an order for two. Dimensions; 105/ 71.6/ 22.3/ 1,078 sq ft; 4x 525hp de Havilland Gipsy Twelve; max speed 225mph; range 1,040 miles and service ceiling 17,900ft.

When do you need them ? The first 12 could be delivered in Q3/1936 and the second in Q4/1936 if if's okay for you ?

The Persian Airways have decided to order 24 Shennong - Dragonfly (Q3&4 Delivery), 6 Avro 652 and 8 De Havilland D.H.91 Albatross ( I assume that the UK can deliver in the same time period)

The 6 Avro 652 and 8 De Havilland D.H.91 Albatross can be easily delivered during Q3-Q3 1936.
