It has been announced by the Ministry of Defence that a deal has been signed with Mexico to acquire a large quantity of tanks and other equipment for our armed forces. By far the largest part of this deal is 150 AT-17 type tanks, which while old are still effective fighting vehicles, and a key purchase if our armed forces are going to be built up to modern standards.
May 6th
The Airforce has announced that at meetings at Hendon with British officials, the aquisition by Yugoslavia of 24 Fairey Swordfish Torpedo planes for coastal defence work, and 24 Handley Page Hereford medium bombers. These aircraft will be very useful additions to our airforce, increasing its potency, and acting as a warning to any potential foe.
May 12th
In another example of the largely increased defence expenditure by the Government, the Army has signed a deal with Eastern Wind Industries to aquire 64 modern tanks in order to form a new Armoured division. These tanks, better armed than many tanks belonging to our neighbours are sure to raise the profile of our nations armed forces.
