Cooling is always a problem, but the AS.6 isn't a monoblock so its relatively easy to fit bigger cylinders with larger cooling jackets to transfer heat away quicker. The pressurised cooling system helps as well. Its still probably quite close to the limit though.
A DB613 would have an extremely large frontal area compared to the AS.6. In fact theres no point in reducing the frontal area further as the pilot is the limiting dimension. Cooling rapidly becomes a problem as the surface evaporative cooling just isn't efficient enough to get rid of the heat. That means a bigger plane with increased surface area and so more drag. The other way is for a conventional radiator that is more efficient - but more draggy.
