Persia Q1 1936

January 7th

There are some rumors in Tehran following the traditional New years greeting to our Christian citizens by the Shah. The rumors claim that the Shah is suffering from a serious illness since the New years greeting was published in newspapers and not given in New Julfa as expected.

The Naval Law of 1936 has approved funds for the acquisition of one Battle Cruiser, two 3 Kt Escorts and an undetermined number of Motor torpedo boats (building of these are conditional on the final price of the Escorts.

The Air Force has requested funds for 30 New fighters to replace the Sikara I currently in service as well as permission to use the stored AA guns to form a number of AA batteries in cooperation with the Navy.

The Gendarmerie has been authorized to form a further four intervention battalions once the necessary equipment is delivered.

What about the Caspian Tiger? That species also exists in Persia, and would be in danger almost as great as the other species - in OTL it goes extinct in the 1950s.

A while back I was trying to come up with a reason for an Atlantean hunter to get into a similar situation as Col. John Henry Patterson and his efforts to hunt down the man eaters of Tsavo.

Perhaps a hunter who was close freinds with Charles Remington, who was one of the unfortunate victims in the movie.

Panic erupted in Teheran today as gunfire was heard from two of the Imperial palaces and Armored Cars were racing towards the Palaces. Rumors spread like wildfire that a FAR sponsored coup de etat was underway with the result that large crowds descended on the Atlantean and French embassies, luckily police arrived rapidly to disperse the crowds before any serious incidents had happened. It turns out that SAVAK and parts of the Gendarme Intervention Brigade held anti insurgent/coup exercises but due to a clerical error an announcement had not gone out to the media. The ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended appoligies to the concerned embassies.

Bulgaria can't possibly comment about this, considering that they had to disperse a mob at the Persian embassy due to the so-called "Persian Connection" affair... At least no one was killed.
