Siam Minisub

Basically, this is a WWI-size coastal submarine built with 'modern' technology. It has a nice, long range and a decent number of torpedoes for it's size. Two tubes are internal with two reloads; two tubes are external, so the commander (actually a Petty Officer) can fire a salvo of 4 torpedoes at a particularly juicy target.

Miscellaneous weights: 27 tons, 19.7 %

Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
46 lbs / 21 Kg = 0.4 x 6 " / 152 mm shells or 0.1 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.00
Metacentric height 0.2 ft / 0.1 m
Roll period: 11.3 seconds

Ship space, strength and comments:
Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 122.7 %
- Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 0.0 %
Waterplane Area: 639 Square feet or 59 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 387 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 82 lbs/sq ft or 401 Kg/sq metre

Hey, that doesn't look half bad... Decent dive depth, size, etc...

I would be shocked if you got an 8-man crew to reload torpedoes, though...

Well, it's not like they'd be doing it during a battle (they hope). If people think I can cram 13 men on her, then I'll add that many. The crew requirements were '19-26 men', half that is 9-13. Also, the dive depth would only be about half that... I think that 135m is a bit excessive for a ship like this.

Me gusta! Mexico wonders if perhaps Siam wishes to exchange the plans for those, for the plans of the nice Mexican TBs.

:D Glad you like!
Siam has a counteroffer they will communicate to Mexico.
Should this be found acceptable, the trade can take place for Q2/36.
